The Santa Monica Rugby Club is made up of men, women, boys and girls who live in the greater metropolitan Los Angeles area, with most of the Club’s players living in the beach cities of Santa Monica, Venice, and Marina Del Rey; on the Westside; in the San Fernando Valley; and in the South Bay.
The Santa Monica men’s side were national club champions in 2006 and 2005, and made their Super League debut in 2007, playing RSL in 2008 and 2009 as well.
The women’s side were Division II Champions for Southern California in 2009.
And if you want to be the best, you have to play the best. The men’s teams compete in the most competitive Division I conference in the U.S. with competition against:
- Old Mission Beach Athletic Club
- Belmont Shore
- Las Vegas RFC
- Los Angeles Rugby Club
- Santa Barbara
- Huntington Beach
Every aspect of the Club has grown in the past few years with most notably the addition of youth rugby in the summer and schools rugby in spring. Age groups range from U-8 non-contact to high school age tackle for boys and girls.
In 2008, the U14 boys team won the Southern California Youth Rugby championship, while the U19 boys placed 3rd in the conference. For more information on the youth programs, click here.
