LADY ‘PHINS START SEASON WITH BIG WIN IN VENTURA

Defeating the Ventura Outlaws in a 29-0 shutout, the Lady Phins showed incredible promise in their season opener.

The ‘Phins kept posession a majority of the scrum-heavy game with a strong pack and aggressive defense. Despite a relatively new lineup, the ‘Phins were able to find a successful rhythm offensively. Cooperation on the field in combination with strong individual running led to tries by Sarah Harris, Cassandra Tong, Anita Bradbury (captain), and two by rookie Liz Lanzarone. An additional 4 points were put up with successful conversions from backs captain Hannah “Miley” Greene.

The ‘Phins welcome new head coach Douglas “Angus” Harris, whose unrelenting positivity and incredible knowledge of the game contributed immensely to the win. His leadership will be a great asset to the team moving into the league season.

All-around, the Lady Phins are looking at a bright start to 2013.
