Santa Monica Rugby Retains New Director of Rugby Programming and Men’s Team Head Coach
Santa Monica, CA: Santa Monica Rugby Club (SMRC) has retained the coaching services of former international player, Marc Stcherbina, for the 2015-16 season. Stcherbina will serve as the Men’s Program Head Coach, overseeing day to day operations for 3 senior men’s sides and will also serve as Director of Rugby Programming for the entire club, developing clear performance improvement pathways for players and coaches club wide.
Stcherbina served as an Assistant Men’s Team Coach for the past four seasons and is eager to test himself in an executive role. “I am relishing the opportunity to have a leading role in helping Santa Monica Rugby Club and its members thrive during what is an exciting period of growth for Rugby in America”, says Stcherbina in a recent interview.
Stcherbina is a retired rugby union player who played professionally for NSW Waratahs, Biarritz, Northampton, Cardiff Blues, and Newport Gwent Dragons also representing his home country of Australia in 7’s.
- SMRC fields Men’s Division teams in the Pacific Rugby Premiership (PRP) and Southern California Division 1.
- SMRC fields women’s teams in Southern California Division 1 and currently rank #4 in the Nation.
- SMRC fields Youth teams for players at the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 age grades.
