Locked in a playoff race with Glendale, SFGG, and Belmont Shore, OMBAC needed a win over Santa Monica to keep pace. Not only did they beat Santa Monica but they ran out to a huge 78-24 win in the process. OMBAC now are tied with Glendale at the top of the table with 37 points. SFGG are right behind them with 36 points. Both Glendale and SFGG have a match in hand over OMBAC who have next week off.

OMBAC wasted no time in getting on the board when Alex Byrne scored four minutes in. Santa Monica would respond just three minutes later through Taylor Manavian to keep things close early.

Still, it was OMBAC’s day and when they ran in tries from Eoin Joyce, OJ Auimatagi, and Ethan Willis all within a roughly ten minute span they were out to a 26-5 lead. Santa Monica would score through John Aseme to make things interesting to end the half but another try from Auimatagi, and a tries from Brian Doyle and Kalei Konrad OMBAC held a 42-12 lead at the break.

OMBAC were missing both Zach Pangelinan and Ben Leatigaga to Eagles and Eagles 7s duty respectively guest player and San Diego State standout Kalei Konrad filled in the void nicely for OMBAC at fly-half. His kicking was solid on the day and he did a good job organizing OMBAC on offense.

In the second half it was more OMBAC. Derrick Broussard opened the scoring with a try five minutes in. Santa Monica’s Charlie Purdon would score but Martin Knoetze, Orin Catrett, Matt Long, and Shane Moise, will all score again for OMBAC. Santa Monica scored a final try through Philip Lydeard
