Club Teams

Santa Monica Rugby Club provides opportunities for rugby players of all ages and abilities, from our Coed U8 team – which is part of our thriving Youth program – to competitive and social Senior Men’s and Women’s teams.  Here is a little about each team, so you can find which one suits you best!

Dolphins 15s

The Dolphins 15s team competes in the Southern California Rugby Football Union Men’s Division 1.

Dolphins Sevens

The Santa Monica Rugby Club Women’s Rugby team plays in the most competitive women’s rugby union in the United States. The divisions include teams from Arizona and Nevada to Southern California and the Central Coast.

2024 kicks off the 22nd season of Santa Monica Rugby’s youth rugby program, which has grown to include over 200 players from around Santa Monica and the Los Angeles area. Rugby team divisions range from U8 through U18 for both boys and girls. U8 is flag while U10 and older are contact (tackle).

League play commences in January and goes through early March for U8, U10, U12 & U14 teams. U16 and U18 league play commences in March and goes through Early May.

Newcomers are always welcome! Safety and fun are the top priorities as our certified coaching staff teach individual skills and team tactics. Training is usually two evenings a week in Santa Monica or Venice (SaMo High, JAMS or Penmar Park)

The Santa Monica Rugby Club’s Old Boys represent a group of players who have stepped away from participating in playing with a full-time schedule but still have the love for competing and being part of the Dolphin’s Club community.

Consisting of ex-Dolphins, new comers and Hall of Famers alike, the SMRC Old Boys consistently compete at a high level and are still one of the biggest draws when they play. They are the heart and soul of the club.
