SMRC D1 Continue Winning Ways Against Las Vegas

Santa Monica’s D1 Team the Barracuda continued it’s upturn with another win, this time against Las Vegas Blackjacks.

With some solid defense the Barracuda shut down the Vegas running offense, forcing them into kicking away possession. This allowed SMRC to play the wide running game at their pace.

Boosted by the return of Sean Pypers, Stirling Siejka and Robert Kremer the Santa Monica back line played strongly making necessary first up tackles and putting the opposition on the back foot.

The forward pack under the leadership of Nate Terrazone, one of the days try scorers, worked hard around the paddock posting up strongly around the breakdowns and stifling the inside ball liked by Las Vegas. Tries went to scrum half Danny Carpio – with a sneaky steal and score, Nate Terrazone – with the smart option off the back of a scrum, and Lucas Ramos – who pinned his ears back and simply out ran the Vegas defense. Once again Tyler Pritchard stepped up and slotted 2 out of 3 conversions.

This win pushes Santa Monica into fourth place in the SCRFU competition. Next week they face OMBAC at home, who currently sit one spot above.
